  34.  
  35.            The key to successful brewing lies in keeping good
  36.       records of each batch!  Like most, I tend to learn from my
  37.       experiences (good and bad).  My weak point has always been
  38.       in locating the scraps of paper where I invariably kept my
  39.       brewing notes.
  40.  
  41.            This was the inspiration for SUDSW - the brewers
  42.       cookbook and log program.  From a simple attempt to
  43.       coordinate some recipe and log notes, SUDSW turned into a
  44.       year-long project and has resulted in an extremely
  45.       comprehensive brewer's program.
  46.  
  47.            This is the second major release of SUDS for Microsoft
  48.       Windows 3.x and involved almost a total rewrite of the DOS
  49.       version.  The two versions are extremely similar and share
  50.       the same file structures.  You can move easily between both
  51.       versions and can even keep both in the same directory if you
  52.       wish!
  53.                       SUDSW 1.1 changes

  55.       NOTE - You must run SUDSCVT utility to convert old release 
  56.              files of SUDS to new format prior to running (See README.TXT).

  58.       o Added logic to default starting and finishing gravities from
  59.        recipe text when initially saving recipe (already present in
  60.        DOS version).

  62.       o Added logic to open recipes and log entries in full-screen mode.

  64.       o Changed means of storing Hop names to use SUDSHOP.DBF rather than
  65.         SUDSHST.DAT file.  Also keeps last AAU value for each Hop entered
  66.         to pre-fill future values.

  68.       o Changed calculation method for Hop IBUs as per Zymurgy hop issue
  69.         statistics and formula developed by Alan Edwards.

  74.       SUDSW includes the following features:
  75.       o    DBASE III compatible recipe and log files which can be
  76.            browsed by any utility capable of viewing DBASE III
  77.            file formats.
  78.       o    Multi-windowing editor featuring undo, full cut and
  79.            paste capability between windows, mouse support and
  80.            Windows clipboard import/export.
  81.       o    Ability to import and export standard ASCII text files
  82.            to and from the SUDS recipe database allowing recipes
  83.            to be shared with SUDS and non-SUDS brewers.
  84.       o    Ability to import and export formatted SUDS SXF-files
  85.            allowing you to share your recipes easily with other
  86.            SUDS and SUDSW users.
  87.       o    Recipe and log printing and reporting capabilities.
  88.       o    Categorization of recipes by type (ie Pale Ale, Stout
  89.            and any categories you may have defined)
  90.       o    Built-in pop-up calculator to help with calculations.
  91.       o    Built-in pop-up calendar
  92.       o    Hop-IBU spreadsheet to calculate hop IBUs for beer
  93.            batches.
  94.       o    Printing of beer labels.

  96.       SUDSW is not, nor has it ever been free software or "Public
  97.       Domain".  SUDSW is being distributed as shareware and
  98.       continued use beyond the 30-day trial period is prohibited.

  100.       Unlike a new recipe, SUDSW is a no-lose proposition!  You're
  101.       free to try out SUDSW for a 30 day period after which you can
  102.       pay the nominal $15 registration fee if you are satisfied.

  107.       Because SUDSW is distributed as shareware, you are strongly
  108.       encouraged to share SUDSW with other brewers.  I would ask
  109.       only that if you do use the program, you pay the
  110.       registration fee.  Shareware only works as well as it is
  111.       supported and this helps keep software prices reasonable!

  113.       The support for SUDSW will help determine whether or not it
  114.       will continue to be released as shareware.

  116.       Hardware requirements - This release of SUDS requires at least
  117.       2 megs of memory and Microsoft Windows release 3.0 or higher
  118.       (or OS/2 2.0).

  120.       A non-Windows version of SUDS is also available (SUDS13.EXE).
  121.       This is functionally equivalent, though character based!
  122.  
  123.       Full permission is hereby granted to redistribute SUDSW in its
  124.       entirety free of charge provided the above conditions are met.  
  125.       SUDSW may be freely uploaded to any electronic BBS's or libraries.  
  126.       SUDSW may also be distributed via shareware libraries provided 
  127.       that the diskette cost does not exceed $15.

  130.       you may pre-register your copy by sending payment along with
  131.       a request for the latest version and I will send you the most
  132.       recent release on diskette (please specify diskette type
  133.       and density).
